Self Drafted: Spot the Dots

Hello, you gorgeous creature! Today I have a fun project to share with you! A self drafted A-line dress with dropped waist. And it has little polka dots!

First things first, like I said, it has an A-line skirt and dropped waist. It also has a buttondown front closure, a Peter Pan collar and some cute little ruffles at the end of the sleeves. The dress is also fully lined(unfortunately someone didn't take pictures of the lining), so you'll going to have to take my word for it. The main fabric itself is a polyester and viscose blend and felt really nice and drapey. It almost had a silk like feeling to it. And the lining is a lightweight black viscose lining.

The main fabric was raveling really fast, so I decided to serge all the seams again to ensure the dress would last more than one or two wears.

I love the cute collar! It looks so adorable yet from far you can't really tell that there's a collar at all. And the little pearl buttons blend in with the white dots like they were made for this fabric.

To finish the ruffles on the sleeve, I used the rolled hem setting on the serger. And to get neat and even gathers, I used a nifty little thing called Ultimate Ruffler foot. Man, that thing is a gift from the sewing gods. I discovered something like that existed by accident and that is one helluva happy accident, if you ask me. (I'll be posting a dedicated post about this contraction sometime in the next week). The hem of the lining and main fabric are both finished with a regular rolled hem.

Lookin' fine, darling.

What have you been up to?
