For me, it's about learning another pattern makers way. I was trained the same way you were, but that's a myopic view. How are you going to learn if you don't get out into the world and experience the way other's live, breath and sew!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7638120409755666701.post-64447998605632811492014-08-21T20:12:25.439+03:002014-08-21T20:12:25.439+03:00Thank you. I think the indie pattern community is really cool and worth supporting for me as a home sewer & I love how everyone personalizes patterns so you can see a lot of cool variations.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00641891332347200129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7638120409755666701.post-51657332682228222722014-08-19T10:40:24.810+03:002014-08-19T10:40:24.810+03:00Exactly. Coming up with original design ideas for everything is tiresome, it's so nice to have sometimes having someone do half of the work :)Foonikshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11202635724442929527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7638120409755666701.post-68449471721783982652014-08-19T10:38:51.166+03:002014-08-19T10:38:51.166+03:00Ah yes, if you have to grade the patterns to make ...Ah yes, if you have to grade the patterns to make them fit, creates a whole new issue. It's like buying the pattern but still having to draft the whole thing yourself. Luckily a lot of indie patternmakers have started to think about or already conquering plus size patterns.Foonikshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11202635724442929527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7638120409755666701.post-76977256230333023952014-08-19T05:59:21.383+03:002014-08-19T05:59:21.383+03:00Preach on ;) A mix of commercial and self drafted ...Preach on ;) A mix of commercial and self drafted patterns makes a great marriage.RhondaBusshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12555069797738423675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7638120409755666701.post-31164052482826114292014-08-18T19:42:25.445+03:002014-08-18T19:42:25.445+03:00I'm kinda caught in the middle of commercial p...I'm kinda caught in the middle of commercial pattern vs self-drafted pattern also. I have computer software that I use to self draft (or copy) patterns; however, the software is limited when it comes to adding tricky or unusual details. That's when I make the decision whether or not to buy the pattern. I prefer the software because I don't have to upsize/alter the pattern--it's done for me. I like commercial patterns for the styles but really hate to use them. Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11688809657787883372noreply@blogger.com
